Last Friday was Andrew's first Pinewood Derby. He has been looking forward to it for the last month. Starting two weeks before the derby, he began calling Norm at work almost daily to ask what they were going to work on that day so that his car would be done on time. He wanted his car to look line a lizard/alligator/elephant. I was proud of how much Norm has grown because he didn't try to talk Andrew into a more aerodynamic car like he had when Cory was eight. They had a lot of fun working on it together and we had a fun time watching all the cars.

Sweet car. I like the ridges. So did his get first or second? I couldn't tell from the video. I barely remember going to a pinewood durby when I was younger..I guess I'll be going to one in eight years!
He got second. Our pack is very large (23 boys) so overall he came in mid pack. Luckily he enjoyed watching his car come in second with a few firsts and wasn't upset about not winning overall.
that is a really cool car. and since he was able to decide how he wanted it to look, it'll be interesting to see if he wants to try something different next time to try to win more races . . .
can i just say "relief" at least that is how james feels about the pinewood derby. he is the cub-scout master and they just held their derby a few weeks ago and he is glad it is over. andrew has a great looking car! love the concept of it
